Having blue skies in China are rare, so we feel very blessed to have seen the sun more times than not since our arrival! Our first day was amazing! We tried to lay out by the pool at the villa where we were staying for our first week, but as there is usually a catch to everything in China, we didn't have the right ID cards to get in. We made the most of it anyway by riding bikes and being outside. The villa was out in the country...not something we were used to in China! There were fields and trees and even rows of corn! Hayley's day was made when we found a little flower market on the side of the road that had basil! It's planted on our balcony right now.




After about three days of looking, we found an apartment near Chaoyang park where the beach volleyball matches will be held for the Olympics. It's a great area with tons of fun things to do. It's also within walking distance to Hayley's classes and the BICF (Internati
onal Fellowship) we've been attending. We'v
e really enjoyed being able to worship with foreigners from all over the world! One of our friends, Phil, from Atlanta is also here working at the U.S. Embassy. It's been fun having a familiar face nearby. We're hoping to get involved in small groups through the BICF soon which will help us meet new friends.
